New Animal Law

Industry,

You have all experienced a rise in the requests for service/companion/emotional support animals.

Now you will have the ability to say NO to those service/companion/emotional support animals.

A new law, effective July 1, 2018, states that the verification for a service/companion/service animal shall come from a licensed health care provider who does not operate in this state solely to provide certification for service or assistance animals.  Putting a stop to the out of state and/or online certifications!

Also, if you find a pet being fraudulantly represented as a service/companion/emotional support animal, you may evict a lessee and the lessor is entitled to a damage fee, not to exceed one thousand dollars.

We are updating our Reasonable Accomodation Verification Form and will send to our members once it is finalized.
