Jill would like to see the continued growth of the Association across the State and to help foster building a network of property management professionals that can help each other throughout the state. Jill’s advice is to get involved you will not be disappointed, just like anything you get what you put into it!
Linda Dunham, Owner, Solutions Property Management
Linda started Solutions Property Management, LLC, a management company for commercial and multi-family properties, in 2015. This was a natural expansion to my commercial real estate brokerage activities with Jim Dunham & Associates (“JDA”), as investor clients I worked so closely with during the buying process felt my knowledge of the deal made me the best manager for their asset. I put the same heart and soul into Solutions as a I do my brokerage career.
I also “walk the walk” by investing in multi-family, commercial and industrial assets, which are also managed by Solutions. This gives me a unique perspective, as I understand management from the point of both a third-party manager as well as an independent rental owner.
My love of wearing multiple hats didn’t start with the real estate industry – it’s been a constant in my career. Prior to obtaining my real estate license, I was the CEO of the REALTOR® Association of the Sioux Empire, Inc. (RASE) for nearly 10 years, working with an elected Board of Directors that changed annually and volunteer committee members. I was at RASE when Internet marketing became critical to the real estate arena and was able to transition the organization from the outdated “MLS book and secrecy” model to the “mass market and transparency” model (much to the consternation of many members). I learned so much about the industry and thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of my career at RASE. And yes, to this day I have the REALTOR® “R” in my blood and I continue to be a bit of a license law and Code of Ethics nerd!
Prior to my tenure at RASE, I was the Controller of PAM Oil, Inc., a closely held, multi-million-dollar Sioux Falls company who, unfortunately, is no longer with us. In that case, the family decided to sell the company’s multiple components (bulk oil sales, automotive part sales, a chain of convenience stores, a retail store, natural gas sales, etc.) to other operators who specialized in those individual arenas. Having left PAM Oil in 1996 after 4.5 years, I was long gone by the time the company ceased operations, but I still feel a twinge every time I drive by the company’s former headquarters. My tenure at PAM allowed me to fully utilize by B.S. in Accounting and to grow my managerial skills, having supervised 17 employees. (And I still love my numbers, as my clients learn pretty quickly!)
I have had the pleasure of volunteering for multiple committees and organizations thus far in my career. Currently, I am the SD Association of Realtors® sole Ombudsman, an Ombudsman for the Realtor® Association of the Sioux Empire as well as the Vice Chair of Professional Standards, and I serve on the Board of Directors for the Harrisburg Optimist Club.
My husband Jim and I have a wonderful blended family, with two daughters and six grandchildren, ages 4-13. Ashley is a licensed agent with JDA. Elizabeth is a residential rental agent with Solutions. Three of my sisters also work for Solutions, for which I am eternally grateful. It is our sincere hope that our children and grandchildren have as much passion for their careers as we do for ours
Paul Rowen, Lewis Kirkeby Hall Property Management
Paul a Rapid City native, attended a one year of college then worked in the construction field. In 1984 Paul joined the United States Air Force and served until 1993, stationed at Pruem Air Station in Germany and Tinker AFB in Oklahoma.
In 1993 Paul returned to Rapid City where he worked in the Coldwell Banker office. Paul then took on a property manager position at Lewis-Kirkeby-Hall Property Management, in Rapid City. Receiving his Property Manager License on October 26, 1995.
Paul was very active in the Black Hills Area Multi Housing Association from the beginning, including serving as President of the board in 2006 and on numerous committees. The reason that I wanted to get involved in the SD Multi-Housing Association is with all the time and effort that went into the Black Hills association. I want to continue what we started, assist in its growth, and promote what the State chapter can provide for us Property Managers, Owners and our suppliers.
And for the Associate Member position:
