Capitol Hill: Congress is finalizing the appropriations package to fund the government in 2023. Currently, the legislation looks like a proverbial mixed bag for the industry. But in a huge win for NAA and our industry partners, $85 million has been tentatively secured to fund a grant program based on Sen. Schatz’s bipartisan ‘Yes In My Backyard’ (YIMBY) legislation. NAA will provide further analysis and impacts on the industry once the bill is passed.
The White House: NAA, alongside a wide coalition of rental housing advocacy organizations, continues to speak directly to White House leaders about the impacts of imposing federal landlord and tenant protections. Last week, NAA led the coalition in sending a letter to key administration officials, offering industry perspective and advocating for sustainable solutions that address the root of affordability issues: a lack of housing supply.
